Daily Rituals for Staying Young...in mind and spirit! The body

  • Hi!  Wanted to share a some of my favourite tips on staying revitalized, refreshed and energized each day.  I like to think of these 'slight edge rituals' as Wellness in Practice.  I'll start with my TOP 3 -- hope these are helpful to you!

    1. Start the day with 2 big glasses of lemon water.

    2. Brush and Exfoliate - referring to brushing teeth and skin! First off, not only does teeth-brushing remove food particles and bacteria that cause tartar buildup (as well as freshen your breath), it also stimulates saliva production, the first stage of revving up your metabolism!  Skin-brushing once or twice/week (or even using an exfoliating shower gel or gentle loofah/mitts) can also stimulate the body's largest organ, the skin, and eliminate toxins more efficiently plus remove dead cells and get working on cellulite.

Using a soft body brush, 'dry body brushing' is excellent for stimulating circulation, immune system and removing dead skin. Use a natural-bristle brush or a loofah glove and brush toward the heart. Dry brushing is believed to stimulate the lymphatic system, which is important for developing a strong immune system.

    3.  Eat or Exercise within an hour of waking - within an hour of waking up (after your bathroom/grooming routine and of course drinking lemon-water ;), start the day with 30-mins of cardio or yoga or a walk (basically your favourite form of movement that is suitable to your body on each given day). You may need to wake up an extra 45-60 minutes earlier to squeeze this into your day, but the long-term benefits are definitely worth the daily 'ceremony'.

And if you find you cannot exercise unless having eaten something first, then have breakfast straight-away (again, within an hour of waking up - and include protein like eggs, beans or a protein shake), and wait an hour before working out (or do your movement routine in the afternoon or evening.

Oh yes, remember to bring your positive attitude and be consistent, you're doing this for your beautiful Self...give it a go!

    Best wishes, Roxy
