Re : Inspiring the Next Generation

  • Hello to the Slight Edge Community,

Hope you guys are all doing awesome and been applying the daily principles of the Slight Edge! I sure lost track for a bit in my daily routine but I am picking up on it again and I noticed how big of a change it made on my attitude and just my mood in general when I wasn't being accountable to my daily routine. Picking myself up and knowing that success is found in our daily agenda, I put together my own daily schedule for the time I would put into each aspect of my life.

Anyways, I would like to respond to Rich Mackenzie's post in regards to inspiring the next generation. In addition to the awesome ideas mentioned, I can totally say that it all starts with input. Depending on the crowd that the next generation is around, it is who they will become because lets face it - you are who you are around and it is the power of association. Putting the right kind of input and positivity into the next generation is where it all begins. Being apart of the next generation myself, I can say that we are very susceptible to social media, wrong crowds at school, and negative input from society that it affects us in every way. I've been taught to look at it this way by a pastor named Paul Tsika, who is apart of World Wide Dream Builders, who talks about the 18 rules of a wise man and one being "protect your mind like you protect your daughter". By instilling these seeds of positivity and providing the right input into the NG, we can then begin to water the plant that will develop in them.

My personal growth and development began to develop when I started associating myself with someone who had tremendous personal growth and development. When I take a look at myself and use my situation as an example, we all can associate ourselves with the next generation and through the slight edge of adding value, creating positive discussions about their future, dreams, and goals, we can slowly instill the success seeds and get them automatically thinking about the slight edge principle in their life as well.

With that being said, I challenge everyone to find someone apart of the Next Generation that they may know personally and start being that positive, uplifting, and slight edge role player in their life and maybe pass them the Slight Edge book itself or transition into the philosophy by challenging them to think where they want to be 5, 10, or 20 years from now and become that mentor in their life.

I'd love to hear more ideas from the community!
