Slight Edge Administrator
I was born with a neurological condition which affects my short-term memory. I have never been interested in reading because it is extremely difficult to remember what I read. No matter how long or short the book, magazine article, or newspaper column, I just cannnot retain anything I read.
My neighbor Jay loaned my his copy of The Slight Edge. I had never read the book, but I knew from talking with him just how imperative it was for me to read. I was hesitant because of my short-term memory loss. I thought that I would have to read it a minimum of five times, and even then I didn't know how much of the book I would remember. Every day for two and a half weeks, I looked at the front cover of the book, wanting to read it, but getting more and more discouraged because of my disability. Finally I told myself, "You will read this book and you will remember what you are about to read."
I was so interested in The Slight Edge - I read it in just two days! That's 100 pages per day - ten times more than Jeff's recommendation of reading ten pages of any book per day. To this day, I remember the book. I am so grateful that Jeff Olson has written a book that is full of valuable information and easy to read and remember. And I can't thank Jay enough for encouraging me to read The Slight Edge, knowing about my short-term memory loss and my inability to rememeber what I read. Now I have read The Slight Edge, I will be able to start my own business. This has been one of my goals for several years, as I have been an Administrative Assistant and I have had many different bosses since 1992. I cannot wait to get my business up and running and finally be my own boss!!
